Sisi hails Egyptian-Sudanese relations as strategic, pivotal

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has hailed as "pivotal and strategic" the relations between Egypt and Sudan and welcomed increasing levels of coordination and consultation in all fields.

The president made the remarks during a meeting with visiting Sudanese Foreign Minister Al Dirdiri Mohammed Ahmed in the presence of Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry, Acting Director of General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel and the Sudanese ambassador in Cairo.

Presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said Sisi asked Ahmed to convey his sincere greetings to Sudanese President Omar al Bashir.

He also thanked the Sudanese foreign minister for his keenness to visit Egypt on his first tour abroad since he assumed office.

The president expressed his confidence that the coming period will witness positive momentum in relations between the two countries at different levels, Rady explained.

Ahmed, for his part, said he chose Egypt to be his first destination abroad in light of historic relations between Cairo and Khartoum at all levels.

He also stressed his country's desire to step up the level of coordination and cooperation with Egypt to solve pending issues.
