First phase of comprehensive health insurance project launched
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed officials to launch the first phase of the national plan of comprehensive health insurance.
The first phase would include:
1- Eliminating the patient’s waiting lists in six months.
2- Developing 47 hospitals nationwide.
3- Maintaining strategic stocks of vaccines, and infant formula.
4- Making medical checkups for 45 million people and providing the treatment for those infected with Hepatitis C in two years.
5- Improving the work environment for medical crews working in Health Ministry hospitals.
Project implementation phases
The new health insurance law applies to 6 phases within 15 years, from 2018 to 2032.
The 1st phase from 2018 to 2020 in: Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, South Sinai and North Sinai governorates. The 2nd phase from 2021 to 2023 in: Luxor, Matrouh, Red Sea, Qena and Aswan governorates. The 3rd phase from 2024 to 2026 in: Alexandria, Beheira, Damietta, Sohag and Kafr El-Sheikh governorates.
While the 4th phase from 2017 to 2028 in: Beni Suef, Assiut, Minya, New Valley and Fayoum governorates. The 5th phase from 2029 to 2030 in: Dakahlia, Sharqia, Gharbia and Menoufia governorates. The 6th phase from 2031 to 2032 in: Cairo, Giza and Qaliobia governorates.
It covers all the family and not only the individual insured, and treats all diseases and the state bears all expenses for those who are unable.
