The "Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018" sets an example for the State's onerous duty to combat terrorism and its commitment to human rights, according to a legal study, titled "Human Rights and the Countering of Terrorist Groups".
The legal dossier was collected by Counselor Adel Maged, the deputy chief justice of the Court of Cassation. It was published in the first issue of "Studies in Human Rights" Magazine, which is issued by the State Information Service (SIS).
The study demonstrated the Armed Forces' full respect for international human rights standards in fighting terrorism.
It also asserted the Armed Forces' respect for the rules of engagement within the course of combat operations in line with international conventions and the UN General Assembly's resolutions.
SIS Chairman Diaa Rashwan said that "Studies in Human Rights" Magazine features the latest studies and reports related to human rights at the local, regional and international levels.
Abdel-Moeti Abu Zeid is the editor-in-chief of the magazine, which is published in Arabic, English and French, he added.
The first issue of the magazine also includes a report titled "Egypt's Voluntary Report to the Human Rights Council in Geneva in March 2018" by Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Omar Marwan, and another report on "Egypt's Vision and Efforts on Respect and Protection of Human Rights" by Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs Ahmed Ehab Gamal El Din.
It also includes a report, titled "The African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights at a Glance" by Dr. Moufeed Shehab. (MENA)
