Azhar Grand Imam meets UK minister

Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb on Saturday met UK Minister of State at the Department for International Development Lord Michael Bates.
Bates hailed Al-Azhar's role in promoting the culture of dialogue between young people from the West and East by launching the Youth Peacemakers Forum in London.
The Grand Imam said the "Egyptian Family House" initiative represents a model for making use of the influence of Al Azhar and the Coptic Church to deepen the concept of citizenship in the Egyptian society.
He urged the entire international community to shoulder a common responsibility in combating extremism, including exerting all needed efforts to put an end to Islamophobia in some Western societies.
Tayyeb also met with Chief Executive of the British Council Ciaran Devane.
He hailed the role played by the British Council in developing an English language center at Al Azhar University.
Acting Charge d'affaires of the Egyptian Embassy in London Nermeen el Zawahri told MENA that the Grand Emam is carrying a message of peace and love in his current visit to the West.
