Mashat: Cultural tourism important for tourism sector

The cultural tourism is a unique sector that boosts Egypt's tourism destinations, Tourism Minister Rania el Mashat said on Thursday.

 

Minister el Mashat made the remarks during her meeting with Antiquities Minister Khaled el Anany to discuss cooperation between the two ministries in the coming period.

 

Besides hailing efforts of the Antiquities Ministry in preserving Egypt's antiquities, Mashat underscored the importance of boosting cooperation between the two ministries.

 

Minister Anany, for his part, stressed that ongoing consultation between the ministries of tourism and antiquities would contribute to luring more tourists to Egypt.

 

Thursday's meeting tackled the cooperation plan between the two ministries in the coming period regarding preparations for inaugurating mega national projects, topped by the Grand Egyptian Museum that will be opened in 2020.

 

They touched on the inauguration of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization as well as means of utilizing the event in promoting Egypt's tourism.

 

The meeting tackled the importance of improving archaeological sites and upgrading their administrative system, with a view to enhancing tourism services.

 

Meanwhile, Mashat invited the Antiquities Ministry to attend the World Travel Market (WTM ), slate for next November in the UK.

 

For the first time, the Antiquities Ministry will be officially represented by the Egyptian pavilion at the WTM to promote Egypt's mega archaeological projects.
