President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Saturday 28/07/2018 took part in a session on the education development strategy of the sixth National Youth Conference, currently held at Cairo University.

Minister of Education Tarek Shawqi was the main speaker during the session.

Education Minister Tarek Shawqi said, "The current Thanaweya Amma system will be canceled in 2020/2021. Accordingly, up to 50 percent of the current education problems would be solved by the same year," he added.

The minister said the current system puts great pressure on students, without really assessing their level, adding that the new system aims at changing ways of assessing students' skills.

Exams will focus on the level of understanding, Shawqi said.

He affirmed the ministry's keenness to provide digital learning resources to all students in different academic years.

Over 7,000 scientific films will be provided as part of the new e-learning system, the minister said.

He added that the technical education would be also developed by establishing applied technology schools.
