Sisi opens 25 solar-operated water wells in New Valley

Sunday، 12 August 2018 - 01:05 PM

Via video conference, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi opened 25 water wells in the New Valley governorate on Sunday August 12, 2018.

The new wells are operated by solar energy.

Sisi arrived in Assiut, Upper Egypt, earlier in the day to witness the inauguration of the new Assiut barrage project and its hydraulic power plant that cost EGP 6.5 billion.

New Valley Governor Mohamed Zamalout and project supervisor Magdi el Shahat unveiled the plaque of the water wells' project after the President gave them the go-ahead via the video conference in Assiut.

Under the solar operating system, the control of any malfunction is monitored through a control room at the headquarters of the governorate and the Irrigation Ministry in Cairo.

Maintenance teams will be promptly dispatched to address any malfunctions, meaning crops will be less-affected by lack of water, especially during dry summer seasons.
