Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired a meeting on Thursday 30/08/2018 to follow up the current status of the 1.5 million feddan land reclamation project in the presence of the ministers of electricity, transport, agriculture and communications.

The meeting’s participants discussed several challenges facing the project, including electricity, mobile network coverage and the establishment of a road network.

On that score, Madbouli issued directives to coordinate with the ministries and bodies concerned to solve these problems.

The 1.5 million feddan project's goal is to develop, reclaim and cultivate lands, the premier asserted.

He also noted that the project aims at providing new job opportunities, calling in this regard for facilitating procedures for whoever owns these lands.

The meeting was also attended by the head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority and the chairman of the National Company for Land Reclamation.
