FOCAC summit kicks off in Beijing with participation of Sisi

 The 2018 summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) kicked off on Monday 3/9/2018 with the participation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and other African leaders.

Also, the UN secretary general, the head of the African Commission and presidents of 27 African and international organizations are taking part in the event aiming at enhancing pragmatic cooperation between China and Africa to bring tangible benefits to the Chinese and African people.

This year’s edition is themed “China and Africa: Toward an Even Stronger Community with a Shared Future through Win-Win Cooperation.”

Chinese President Xi Jinping will deliver a keyword speech at the summit to talk about the new measures China will take within the coming three years to enhance cooperation with Africa, especially in the domains of infrastructure, investment, trade, human development, science, education, culture, health, security and environment protection.

According to the Chinese Ministry of Trade, China has been Africa's biggest trade partner for nine consecutive years.

Trade between China and Africa increased in the first half of 2018 by 16 percent to hit 98.8 billion dollars while China's average annual direct investments in Africa over the past three years were estimated at three billion dollars.
