Defense min. inspects training activities of Bright Star 2018 drills

Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki on Tuesday11/9/2018 inspected a number of training activities carried out by the Air Force elements of countries participating in Bright Star 2018 exercises at Mohamed Naguib Military Base.

During his inspection tour, Zaki was briefed on the training activities performed by Egyptian Air Force troops to determine the military preparedness of pilots and technical crews.

Also, he checked up on an air force squadron and discussed with a number of pilots and members of the technical crews methods to perform multi-tasking military operations.

The Armed Forces' general commander observed a military drill by a raft of fighter jets of the different countries involved in the Bright Star 2018 exercises. 

Moreover, he inspected aircraft maintenance workshops and listened to a detailed explanation about all stages of maintenance and technical support for aircraft and multi-tasking jets, to keep abreast of the fast-paced technologies in arming systems and air combat. 

The Bright Star 2018 exercises started on Saturday at Mohamed Naguib Military Base in Hammam City of Marsa Matrouh govenorate and will run until 20 September.

Land, naval and air forces from Egypt, the US, Greece, Jordan, the UK, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Italy and France are taking part in the drills.

The 13-day drills are also monitored by 16 countries.
