MFA Spokesperson commenting on EC Spokesperson’s remarks on sentences issued in the case of dispersing Raba’a sit-in: A repetitive approach of unprejudiced positions, and a deviation from the principles of the rule of law
In response to inquiries by a number of diplomatic reporters about Egypt’s position toward remarks made on Tuesday September 11 by the Spokesperson of the European Commission that included criticisms of the Cairo Criminal Court’s judgement in the case of dispersing the Raba’a armed sit-in, MFA Spokesperson Ambassador Ahmed Abou Zeid said that these remarkers represent a repetitive approach from the European Commission to take prejudiced positions, and to issue absolute opinions driven by bias and deviation from the principles of the rule of law and the respect of judicial authorities.
Abou Zeid added that Egyptian institutions are determined to assume their powers in full as guaranteed by the Constitution and the law.
Egypt will also remain committed to the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, in accordance with the United Nations Charter that ought to be respected by all members of the international community, including the European Commission.
