Armenian ambassador urges parliament to establish Egyptian-Armenian friendship society

Armenian Ambassador in Cairo Armen Melkonian On Thursday 11/10/2018 urged the Egyptian parliament to form a joint friendship society to help enhance bilateral relations.

Meeting with members of the House of Representative’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Melkonian highlighted the strength of Armenian-Egyptian relations in the various domains and said that both countries would better discuss regional and international issues of common concern.

During the meeting, the Egyptian MPs lauded the role played by Armenian citizens in the Egyptian society in the various domains, while the ambassador noted that 7500 Armenian nationals were now in the country, stressing the deeply-rooted relations between the peoples of both countries.

The senior diplomat also praised the level of cooperation and understanding maintained by both countries as part of their memberships in international organizations, including the UN and Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
