Activities of Egyptian Dates Festival continue for 2nd day

The proceedings of the 4th edition of Egyptian Dates Festival continued here for the second day.
The festival is co-organized by the Trade and Industry Ministry, Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Matrouh governorate.
Chairman of the Industrial Council for Technology and Innovation at the industrial ministry Hanan El Hadary said that a galaxy of scientists and university professors, along with representatives of government bodies and the private sector are taking part in specialized scientific seminars on date industry.
The festival's seminars focus on the development of date supply chains and determine obstacles to the manufacturing of dates in Egypt, as well as getting acquainted with modern technologies in the field of date palm, she added.
For his part, Secretary-General of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation Abdel Wahab Zayed asserted the importance of scientific research in the development of date production, praising the scientific efforts exerted by all bodies concerned to support the dates' sector in Egypt.
The second day activities include holding six scientific seminars and workshops on the manufacture of dates, with a view to shoring up the date sector and strengthening its role in serving the national economy through meeting the needs of the local market, exporting to global markets and securing more jobs.
