A sandstone panel and a wooden sarcophagus dating back to the 18th Dynasty have been excavated in Luxor, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri announced on Thursday 08/11/2018.
The new excavation was made by a joint mission of the French Institute for Eastern Archaeology and the University of Strasbourg working in the Upper Egyptian governorate, he added in press statements.
The sarcophagus is 1.7 meters tall and was discovered in a good condition next to the panel, but part of its feet is missing, Waziri revealed.
The name of the sarcophagus’s owner was also carved on it, he added.
