FM Shoukry holds bilateral discussions with Bahraini counterpart, on the sidelines of Joint Egyptian-Bahraini Committee in Manama

On November 11, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held bilateral talks with Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, on the sidelines of the 10th session of the Joint Egyptian-Bahraini Committee headed by the foreign ministers of both countries in Manama.
Official MFA Spokesperson Counselor Ahmed Hafez stated that FM Shoukry expressed his gratitude for efforts undertaken by the Kingdom of Bahrain on the Arab stage in reinforcement of the path of Arab solidarity and joint action, as well as, gratitude for the positions taken by the Kingdom in support of Egypt on all fronts. The Foreign Minister noted the depth and strength of Egyptian-Bahraini relations.
For his part, the Bahraini Foreign Minister commended the strong ties between the two countries. He emphasized that Bahrain is keen to advance bilateral relations in all fields, for the benefit of the two brotherly countries and peoples, and to meet the momentum of bilateral relations at the popular and official levels.
The MFA Spokesperson added that talks broached means to develop and advance frameworks of bilateral relations. Both Ministers were keen to discuss following up the implementation of the outcomes of the 9th session of the Joint Committee, which was held in April 2016. The two Ministers, also, discussed means for more work to achieve a leap in the path of joint relations between the two countries, in a manner that would reflect the special relations and meet the aspirations of the two peoples.
Counselor Hafez explained that during bilateral talks, FM Shoukry, also, emphasized Egypt’s complete support of brothers in the Kingdom of Bahrain and that it stands by the Kingdom in all that it undertakes to guarantee its security and stability. The talks, also, addressed regional developments of mutual interest. In this regard, Minister Shoukry emphasized the importance of advancing joint Arab action mechanisms in the face of various challenges witnessed regionally; especially, with regard to confronting dangers of extremism and terrorism, as well as, foreign and regional interferences. The Foreign Minister noted Egypt’s full commitment to maintaining the security and stability of the Gulf as an integral part of Arab and Egyptian national security.
Counselor Hafez concluded by saying that the two Ministers agreed on continuing consultation and coordination of positions during the upcoming period, in order to follow the path of joint goals and purposes on both the bilateral and Arab fronts.
