UN Convention on Biological Diversity exec. sec. thanks Sisi for caring for environmental issues

Executive Secretary of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity Cristiana Palmer thanked President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for the great care he has given to such global environmental issue.
Addressing the 14th Biological Diversity Conference, the UN official expressed appreciation for the efforts of Egypt's Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad in organizing the conference and bringing together delegations from all over the world.
The conference aims to achieve the sustainable use of the natural resources, the UN official said.
Today is the 25th anniversary of the entry into force of the Convention on Biological Diversity, which was implemented with a joint aim of achieving sustainable protection of the environment and the natural resources, she noted.
Palmer expressed hope with regard to this file, mainly after what she has witnessed during the early activities of the conference including the African ministerial meeting and the high-level discussions which were concluded by announcing Sharm el Sheikh declaration for investing in the biological diversity and launching the international alliance for nature.
More initiatives and discussions will be launched in the coming two weeks with the aim of preserving biological diversity through integrating it in health, industrial, infrastructure and energy sectors, she noted.
She thanked the governments of Egypt, New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, and the European Union for offering financial assistance and helping set up projects meant to safeguard biological diversity worldwide.
