Sisi, European Council chief discuss counterterrorism efforts over phone

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Thursday a phone call from President of the European Council Donald Tusk as they discussed a set of issues of common interest including efforts to counter terrorism and illegal immigration.
Talks also covered means of enhancing cooperation between the two sides and how to boost combat the phenomenon of illegal immigration as well as working out political solutions for the region's crises, presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement.
Tusk praised Egypt’s effective efforts to face terrorism and illegal immigration, expressing the union’s desire to promote cooperation with Cairo to overcome challenges in the Middle East region, the spokesman added.
