59 takfiris killed in army, police operations in Central, North Sinai

The General Command of the Egyptian Armed Forces announced on Tuesday 22/1/2019 killing 44 takfiris in security operations carried out in the surroundings of the Second and Third Field armies' zones on the various strategic fronts of the state in Central and North Sinai.
The statement also noted that the takfiris possessed various kinds of guns and rifles, explosive charges and belts that were ready to be used in terror attacks.
Also, 15 takfiris were killed in preemptive strikes carried out by police troops in Sinai.
Security operations also resulted in arresting 142 suspected and wanted criminals.
The Air Forces targeted and destroyed 56 four-wheel vehicles used by terrorist elements on the four strategic fronts (six vehicles on the northeastern front, 39 on the southern front, 11 on the western) along with destroying two terrorist hideouts, the statement added.
Military engineering elements also discovered and detonated 242 explosive charges that had been planted on roads to target security troops during their movement, according to the statement.
Also, border guards have successfully seized 104 rifles of various types, quantities of ammunition along with 2,666 kilograms of cannabis, 6,826 kilograms of marijuana, 43 kilograms of heroin and opium and 2.5 million drug tablets.
Security operations also resulted in seizing 85 vehicles, 6 motorbikes, 15 metal detectors and amounts of money, added the statement.
As many as 2,189 illegal immigrants were caught on various strategic fronts, while military engineering elements managed to destroy 6 smuggling tunnels.
During the combat operations, one army officer and six soldiers were killed in clashes with terrorist elements, said the statement.
The statement asserted that the Armed Forces and police will continue their efforts to uproot terrorism and provide security and protection for the great Egyptian people.
