Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli stressed on Thursday 14/02/2019 that increasing exports is on the top of the government's priorities within the coming period.
During a meeting with the Engineering Export Council of Egypt, Madbouli said the State is keen on taking all necessary decisions that can help push forward national economy and achieve hoped-for growth rate.
Trade and Industry Minister Amr Nassar, who attended the meeting, said he held many meetings with the export council over the past period to listen to its members' vision towards increasing Egypt's exports.
Amr Abu Farikha, head of the council, stressed that the engineering industries are among of the biggest sectors capable of increasing added value and deepening local manufacturing in Egypt with 6,790 companies operating in the sector with investments totaling 144 billion pounds.
He said 1,170 companies, including 500 industrial ones, are exporting their products abroad.
He expounded the council's suggestions to increase exports, including setting up a higher council for exports grouping all exports-related bodies, developing institutional capabilities of bodies involved in industry and exports and paying more attention to marketing programs.
The other suggestions include promoting national trademarks and rehabilitating national companies to supply to global ones.
Madbouli reiterated his support of some of these suggestions, assigning the trade minister to prepare executive decisions in this regard.
