Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Armenian counterpart Zohrab Mnatsakanyan expressed their keenness on holding the joint committee's meetings in Cairo soon.
This came at their meetings on the sidelines of the 55th edition of Munich Security Conference on Friday in Germany within the framework of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry's efforts to promote cooperation and coordination with its partners across the globe.
Shoukry, during the meeting, asserted that Egyptian-Armenian ties are distinguished, citing the role of Egyptian Armenians who had contributed to modern Egypt in the political, economic and culture fields over the past years, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said in statements.
The two sides also discussed the outcome of the 5th session of the economic committee that was held in Yerevan in September 2017, the spokesman said.
The two ministers entrusted the new ambassadors in Cairo and Yerevan to work on strengthening ties between the two countries, the spokesman added.
They also reviewed Egypt's efforts to fight terrorism and the latest developments in the Middle East region, particularly in Syria, Libya and Yemen, the spokesman said.
