Your Excellency President Alassane Ouattara President of Cote d’Ivoire,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It gives me pleasure to be here in Abidjan today. I would like to express my thanks to President Ouattara for the hospitality and good reception we have received.
I am proud that I am the first Egyptian president, who visits your country Cote d’Ivoire; the pivotal state in West Africa, which plays a key role in its regional vicinity. Moreover, it is currently bearing the responsibility of representing the African issues on the global arena, being the incumbent member of the Security Council.
My visit to Cote d’Ivoire coincides with Egypt’s presidency of the African Union. We target giving a push to our joint action for boosting security and stability and achieving development and prosperity, looking forward to make this visit enhance these historic, political and economic relations in a way that suits the two countries- owned potentials and capabilities.
I have held fruitful and constructive talks with my brother President Ouattara. We have exchanged point of views about several regional and international issues. We have agreed to send our bilateral ties to wider vistas for more bilateral cooperation through raising rate of trade exchange and encouraging the Egyptian investments in Cote d’Ivoire, besides supporting the cooperation in capacity building through the training programmes launched by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development in the civil and military domains.
We have tackled means of making the best use of our countries’ achievements in the field of infrastructure of information technology.
We have discussed our vision on the priorities of the African Union’s action during this year. I would like to congratulate Cote d’Ivoire for the endorsement of the free trade agreement last December. I want to express appreciation to President Ouattara’s efforts and our confidence in his ability to coodinate the common African action in this regard.
In conclusion, I would like to affirm that our meeting was very positive, during which I have enjoyed listening to President Ouattara’s view about means of achieving security and stability and boosting economic integration in Africa.
Again, I would like to express my appreciation for president Ouattara and the Ivorian people, hoping to receive you in Egypt in the near future.
