Friday، 26 April 2019 - 12:38 PM

Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar held separate meetings with representatives of three Chinese firms that showed interest in investing in the Egyptian market.

Nassar met with officials from Xinyi Glass Holdings, Hanteng Auto International and giant shoe manufacturer Huajian Group.

The meetings touched on means of fostering bilateral cooperation in fields related to the production of glass, hybrid cars, electric cars and leather products, the Ministry of Trade and Industry said in a statement Friday.

The minister’s meetings come on the sidelines of his visit to China as part of Egypt’s delegation participating in the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, held on Friday and Saturday in Beijing. The forum is attended by 37 heads of state and government, including President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

China is one of Egypt’s key strategic partners at the trade and investment levels, the minister said during the meetings.

The governments of Egypt and China seek to develop this partnership via introducing more facilitation for the private sectors in both countries to help them contribute to boosting Cairo-Beijing economic cooperation in the coming stage, he added.
