Mashat: Political stability in Egypt helped in luring tourists from Italy, world countries

Minister of Tourism Rania Al Mashat asserted the depth of Egyptian-Italian relations, noting that political stability in Egypt helped increase the influx of tourists from Italy and world countries to Egypt.
The minister's remarks were made during her meeting with a media delegation representing the top selling Italian newspapers including Sole 24, Verita, Libero, Giornale, Stampa, Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, Italia Oggi along with ANSA.
The meeting was held at the end of a conference held by the Tourism Ministry to announce the launch of a documentary about Egyptian civilization produced by the Italian based media company, Mediaset.
Al Mashat said that the well-acclaimed Italian program "Confine II Oltre Freedom" and its presenter Giacobbo Roberto would broadcast the documentary that discusses the wonders of the ancient Egyptian civilization.
She asserted that political stability in Egypt has contributed in increasing the number of tourists from several world countries, especially Italy, noting that the number of Italian tourists increased by 40 percent compared to the previous year.
Al Mashat said that the cooperation with the Italian media company is part of the Ministry's plan to promote tourism in Egypt, adding that the Ministry has started a partnership with CNN in order to draw more tourists to Egypt.
She also said the ministry has outlined an integrated program for the structural reform, launched in November to promote for the Egyptian tourism and change the wrong image of the world about the Egyptian tourist destinations.
The Italian Mediaset broadcast for 4 months a documentary about the Egyptian civilization that scored high views, encouraging the company to produce another season about the ancient civilization in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism.
Five millions watched the first season of the documentary according to Mediaset, hoping that a second season would realize a bigger success.
Several representatives of the Italian media arena including Mediaset attended the press conference organized by Egypt's Ministry of Tourism to broaden its ties with the international tourism market.
The first season of the documentary covered the latest discoveries of ancient tombs and monuments in Egypt that drew views estimated at millions.
