Mozambician President’s visit to Egypt

President Abd Al Fattah El Sisi received President of Mozambique Filipe Jacinto Nyusi on Saturday June 22, 2019 at El-Etihadeya Presidential Palace, after arriving to Cairo.
President El-Sisi discussed boosting African mechanisms for reconstruction and development following conflicts with Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi.
The meeting witnessed talks on the latest developments in the region and the continent in light of Egypt’s chairmanship of the African Union in 2019.
Both El-Sisi and Nyusi agreed on continued cooperation to execute developmental goals in various fields in line with the AU’s Agenda 2063, also focusing on continental projects of priority to African countries.
They also agreed on intensifying efforts in fighting terrorism and extremism, as well as supporting peace and security in the continent.
Both leaders witnessed signing three memorandums of understanding (MOUs).
In his remarks during a press conference with his Mozambican counterpart following their talks at the presidential palace in Heliopolis, President El Sisi stressed Egypt's full support to efforts aimed to promote African economic integration.
He also underlined the state's keenness to reach a peaceful solution to conflicts in Africa during Egypt's current presidency of the African Union (AU).
Moreover, El Sisi extended his condolences to the families of the victims of several cyclones which lashed the southeast African country's central region.
He further asserted Egypt's support of the post-cyclone reconstruction efforts in the affected areas.
El Sisi noted that he is looking forward to upgrading joint cooperation and coordination between the two countries.
The Egyptian leader noted that he and his Mozambican counterpart Filipe Nyusi affirmed their determination to develop bilateral relations via bolstering trade and investments in addition to exchanging expertise through the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD).
He added that Egypt and Mozambique agreed on cementing joint cooperation to combat terrorism and dry up its resources.
For his part, Jacinto Nyusi thanked President El Sisi and the great people of Egypt for supporting Mozambique in different fields of mutual interest.
Jacinto Nyusi said that Mozambique wants to boost cooperation with Egypt to establish joint projects in the fields of education, transport, communications, fish farming and investment promotion.
President of the Republic of Mozambique invited President El Sisi to visit Mozambique as soon as possible.
The Mozambican President also congratulated Egypt for hosting the African Cup of Nations and for its great opening ceremony.
