French Ambassador to Egypt Stephane Roumtier said on Thursday that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi was paying a great interest to overhauling the country’s railway sector.
The French ambassador made the remarks during a press conference held in Alexandria to celebrate Bastille Day, the French national day.
Roumtier said that France had major companies in this field and could provide Egypt with the needed assistance, hailing the strong ties between Paris and Cairo.
France is expected to carry out major projects in the Egyptian railway sector, such as developing some lines and rail systems as well as upgrading the Alexandria tramway network.
