Egypt's Chief of staff receives Sudanese counterpart

Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lt General Mohamed Farid received Thursday 18/07/2019 his Sudanese counterpart Hashem Abdel Muttalib Babakr, currently visiting Egypt to take part in the sixth meeting of the Egyptian-Sudanese joint military committee, hosted by Cairo.

The meeting tackled means of boosting the bilateral military ties, sharing expertise, securing borders, fighting terrorism and encountering cross-borders infiltration attempts.

The two army chiefs also co-chaired the closing session of sixth meeting of the Egyptian-Sudanese joint military committee, where they discussed defense and security cooperation.

For his side, Babakr hailed the deep-historic ties between the two neighboring countries, especially the Egyptian efforts supporting regional stability, security and development, as part of Cairo's presidency to the African Union in 2019.

Lt General Farid, for his part, asserted that both countries have identical viewpoints as regards current challenges and security threats in the region, voicing hope that the coming phase would witness more cooperation in the military and security fields as part of the strong and strategic relations binding the two countries.

A number of top military brass from both sides attended the meeting.
