Mamish: Navigation movement in Suez Canal hits record high

The navigation movement in the Suez Canal hit a record high in terms of the number of ships transiting the international waterway and the size of their loads, Head of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Mohab Mamish said.
In a statement on Friday 03/08/2019, Mamish added that 81 ships transited the waterway carrying 6.1 million tons on board.
Mamish pointed out that 43 vessels crossed the canal as part of the south-bound convoy with a cargo of 3.14 million tons, while the north-bound convoy included 38 ships carrying 2.95 million tons on board.
Fourteen giant ships crossed the canal as well with total cargo exceeding 150,000 tons for each, Mamish noted.
