Thursday، 10 October 2019 - 09:09 AM

Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League (AL) Hossam Zaki said Arab foreign ministers are set to hold an emergency meeting on Saturday to discuss the latest developments of the Turkish attack on Syrian territories.

He made his statements on Wednesday, noting that the meeting will be held at the request of Egypt with the backing of several member states.

Earlier on Wednesday, Egypt strongly condemned the Turkish offensive in Syria, noting that such a move represents a blatant and unacceptable attack on the sovereignty of an Arab state.

The Egyptian foreign ministry called on the international community to shoulder responsibility towards this dangerous incident, which threatens international peace and security.

It urged ending attempts to occupy Syrian territories or to change its demographic nature.
