Fifth international conf. on Fatwa kicks off in Cairo

Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam inaugurated on Tuesday the fifth international conference on Fatwa under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi with the participation of delegations of religious scholars and fatwa top officials from 85 countries.
The conference is organized by the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide under the title of "Managing Juristic Differences: A Civilizational Approach".
Minister of Awqaf Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa will deliver an address at the conference on behalf of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli.
Also, Secretary General of the Islamic Research Academy Nazir Ayad will deliver an address on behalf of Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed el Tayyeb.
Addressing the conference, Allam extended thanks to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for sponsoring the conference which will discuss agreement among various Muslim jurisprudence branches and means of standing against any attempts of extremist groups to infiltrate into countries.
He said such groups are taking advantage of differences in the Islamic juristic laws to spread their ideologies and deceive citizens under the name of Islam.
Allam also highlighted the urgent need to renew debate against radical indoctrination, and to advance scientific consensus and openness among various Fatwa officials.
The conference's agenda will also tackle means of working out mechanisms to counter the phenomenon of Islamophobia.
