Egypt reach U23 AFCON semifinal with 2-1 win over Cameroon

Egypt have qualified for the semifinal of the U23 Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Cameroon 2-1 on Thursday.
Mostafa Mohamed opened the scoring for Egypt after 28 minutes into the match, but Cameroon’s Eric Ayuk netted the equalizer 10 minutes later.
Mohamed scored the winner after just five minutes into the second half to secure the top position of Group A for the Pharaohs with nine points.
Cameroon were eliminated from the tournament, hosted by Egypt, after Ghana came second with four points, on goal difference.
Mali were at the bottom of Group A with zero points, behind third-placed Cameroon.
Egypt are set to play the semifinal against the runner-up of Group B.
Eight national teams compete in the tournament, which lasts until Nov. 22. The top three will qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
