PM launches 3rd national project for developing Northwestern Coast

Sunday، 24 August 2014 - 12:00 AM

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab launched on Saturday 23/8/2014 the strategic project for developing the Northwestern Coast and its desert hinterland.

At a press conference, Mahlab said the project, the third national one, will be carried out in parallel with the New Suez Canal and the Golden Triangle for mining in the Eastern desert.

He said this region represents the future of development in Egypt as the Northwestern Coast extends to 500 kilometers and has a desert hinterland extending to the depth of 280 kilometers. He said this area could absorb a huge part of overpopulation in Egypt in the coming 40 years.

Mahlab announced preparations for new projects in the north coast on Saturday, including the establishment of a new green city of al-Alamein.

Mahlab said the project aims to develop the housing infrastructure and boost tourism in the area, which he said has undiscovered resources.
