PM opens major resort in Northwestern Coast

Friday، 22 August 2014 - 12:00 AM

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab will open a huge tourist resort in Egypt’s Northwestern Coast on Saturday 23/8/2014 and inspect the location of the new el-Alamein city.

Mahlab will also hold a meeting during which the Housing Minister will put forward visions for the development of the Northwestern Coast and its hinterland, the third major national project adopted by the government.

The first project the government has taken serious steps on is the development of the Suez Canal region to be an international industrial, logistics and trade hub, while the second is the golden mining triangle in the Eastern Desert.

The Northwestern Coast constitutes the future of development in Egypt as it stretches for 500 km from el-Alamein to Salloum, while the desert hinterland has a width of over 280 km covering an area of 160 square km, meaning it could accommodate Egypt's growing population in the coming 40 years or 34 million persons, Mahlab said.
