62.9% of dredging at New Suez Canal finalized

Up to 157.260 million cubic meters of water-saturated sand have been dredged so far as part of the Suez Canal Development Project, said executive director supervising the dredging process Wagdi Zaki.

This rate represents 62.9 percent of a total 250 million cubic meters that should be dredged as part of the project, he added in statements on Thursday 30/04/2015. As many as 37 dredgers are working in the project, Zaki noted.

In another context, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Khaled Negm said on Thursday that the coming period will witness enhancing of internet services in Egypt.

The development will include increasing internet speed and reducing its cost to suit all Egyptians, Negm told MENA during a visit to Ismailia.

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority will convene on May 15 to discuss private companies' offers concerning the new prices and speeds, the minister added.

During his visit to Ismailia, the minister inspected and inaugurated a number of projects. He also met with Ismailia Governor Yassin Taher to discuss underway projects in the governorate especially Suez Canal Corridor projects.
