Political relations between Egypt and Jordan are a model example of Arab relations in strength and durability due to the constant consultations between Egypt and Jordan and the mutual visits between the Egyptian and Jordanian leaderships.
Bilateral relations are greatly enhanced specially with the convene of the meetings of The Higher Egyptian-Jordanian Committee which is of special importance being the oldest ever Arab committee. This committee is one of the most disciplined committees that always convene its consecutive sessions in Cairo or Amman on regular bases. The main aim of the committee is the development of Egyptian-Jordanian cooperation and overcoming of obstacles that hinder the increasing volume of trade exchange.
On 27/7/2017, Prime Minister Sherif Ismail arrived in Amman heading Egypt’s delegation to the 27th session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee. Ismail and his Jordanian counterpart Hani al Mulki held a plenary session of talks to discuss means of boosting bilateral ties in all fields and political coordination in issues of mutual concern.
The meeting handled by discussions the issues related with political cooperation and coordination and issues of mutual interest.
They also discussed a host of issues of mutual interest and means of boosting bilateral cooperation in the economic and investment fields. The committee also discussed promoting cooperation between Cairo and Amman in the fields of exports development, national production protection, small, medium enterprises ,consular affairs, tariffs, environment, housing, ICT, water resources, transportation, tourism, stock exchange ,energy ,education, scientific research, vocational training and civil services. They checked how far the recommendations reached by the Committee are applied. Seven memorandums of understanding were signed at the end of the committee's meetings in addition to endorsing the executive program for higher education for the years 2017-2020.
A session of talks between Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and his Jordanian counterpart Hani al Mulki kicked off as part of meetings of the 26th round of the higher Egyptian-Jordanian committee held from 29-31 August 2016.
They exposed to the issues related to political cooperation, consultation and coordination of efforts to confront the current incidents on the Arab and regional scales. They agreed upon enhancing and supporting the execution of the Arab summits resolutions, and the resolutions issued by the economic and social council of the Arab League .They also discussed all fields of mutual cooperation. At the end of the meetings, a number of agreements, protocols, executive programs and memorandums of understanding have been signed.
