Karam Ibrahim Gaber Karam Ibrahim Gaber (born September 1, 1979 in Alexandria) is an Egyptian Greco-Roman wrestler who won the gold medal in the Men's Greco-Roman 96 kg at the 2004 Summer Olympics, and the silver medal at the 2003 World Championships. Gaber won with a gap of 10 points (10-0) at the 2004 Olympics Greco-Roman finals. He competed in a mixed martial arts (MMA) match against Kazuyuki Fujita at K-1's Dynamite event on December 31, 2004. Ibrahim lost by knockout at 1:07 into the first round. Despite the result, Gaber was reportedly still interested in MMA. Unfortunately his promising career was cut short in a tragic 2007 motorcycle accident. His spinal cord was severely damaged and he was hospitalized for nearly three months. Though he regained use of his arms, it is doubtful that he will ever walk again.
