Mahmoud al-Gohary

The most famous Egyptian soccer team coach.

Full name: Mahmoud Nosseir Youssef Al-Gohary.

Born Feb. 20, 1938.

He started his soccer career as a player at Al-Ahly Club. He was a member in the national team from 1955 up to 1966. He got championship of soccer tournament for five times as well as Africa Cup of Nations twice.

He worked as a coach and trained:

*Saudi Al-Ahly and Jeddah Union

*Al-Sharjah (UAE)

*Al-Zamalek (ARE)

*Oman national team

*Egypt national team

He achieved several victories:

*with Al-Ahly he won Africa cup of tournament champ clubs, in 1982 and 1984

*with Egypt, he got Egypt cup in 1983 and 1985

*with Al-Zamalek he won cup of Africa tournament in 1992 and Africa Super champ in 1994

*with Egypt he won Africa Cup of Nations in 1998 *He could get Egypt qualified for final world soccer competitions in 1990

Coach Al-Gohary got several awards:

*Sport 1st class in 1982

*Sport 2nd class in 1986

*Sport 1st class in 1992

*Sport 1st class in 1998

*Title of best Arab coach in 1989 and 1992

*Chosen as one of the best 21 world coaches in 1998

*Chosen as best coach in Africa in 1998
