Awards

For his movie "The Kit Kat", he received:
• Prize for best achievement in scriptwriting from the National Film Festival (1992);
• First Production Prize from the National Cinema Festival;
• Gold Prize from the Damascus Film Festival;
• Best Script from the Alexandria and Mediterranean Festival; and
• Prize of the Egyptian Society of Film Critics.

"A wise man's counsel on village and education affairs" won the Jury's Special Prize from the Oberhausen Film Festival – Germany (1976).

"The paupers" won Prize of First Movie by a Director from the Aswan Academic Festival (1985).

"Looking for Sayyed Marzuk" won the Silver Pyramid from the 15th Cairo International Film Festival – 1991.

For his documentary "Land of dreams", Abdel-Sayyed received the Second Production Prize from the National Cinema Festival, 1993.

"The joy robber" received the Silver Prize from the National Cinema Festival, the Bronze Prize from the Damascus Film Festival, and the Public's Prize from Italy's Sorrento Film Festival, (1995).

"Land of fear" received the Silver Pyramid Prize from the Cairo International Film Festival; Prize of Best Script from the 1st Bahrain Festival, the prizes of Best Film and of best achievement in directing from the Film Society Festival (1999).

"Citizen, informer and thief" won the prizes of best film and best achievement in directing from the National Cinema Festival and also the prizes of best script and best directing from the Film Society Festival (2001).

Abdel-Sayyed also received the State Award of Distinction in Arts from the Supreme Council of Culture – 2004.
