On 22/5/2015: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received visiting Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz. The Austrian top diplomat expressed happiness for visiting Egypt for the first time and conveyed President Heinz Fischer's greetings to Sisi. Sisi reviewed the latest developments in the region, especially those related to violence, extremism and terrorism. Sisi said that the concept of human rights cannot be restricted to civil and political freedoms only but also covers political and social rights, like the right to work, proper education and healthcare. International cooperation is needed to help countries achieve the human rights and end the motivations used by terrorist groups to lure young people, Sisi said. The President also stressed the importance of intellectual and religious aspects in combating terrorism. Kurz hailed Egyptian efforts in fighting terrorism at the internal and international fronts.
On 25/9/2014: Foreign Minister Sameh Shourky and his Austrian counterpart Sebastian Kurz have conferred on Egypt's road map toward democracy. They also discussed technical support offered by Vienna for Egyptian companies to help them tap the Austrian market. Regional issues, topped by the situation in the Palestinian territories, Libya, Iraq and Syria, also figured high in the meeting. The top diplomats talked about means to counter terrorism with focus on Egypt's vision in this regard.
