On 15/4/2015, For the first time, the Egyptian and Bahraini Armed Forces will conduct air-maritime joint military exercises under the name of "Hamad-1". Four Egyptian Naval units, in addition to a number of F16 fighter jets will participate in that exercise due to kick off on April 20.

The joint air drills, "Basic Liaison 2014", which the Egyptian Air Force conducted with the Bahrain Defense Force (BDF), have been wrapped up on May 8.

The drills, the biggest ever in the Gulf region, come within the framework of coordinating and cooperating with several friendly countries to unify the visions and joint action with the purpose of maintaining security and stability in the region.

According to a statement of the Egyptian army, multi-task aircraft sortied during daytime and at night under different circumstances to practice air combat maneuvering, both offensive and defensive, and provide air support to ground forces against hostile targets.

Egypt's participation, which is the first of its kind, affirms the historical and strategic relations binding the two countries.
