On 10/9/2014: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Burkina Faso's Foreign Minister Djibrill Bassole at the Presidential Palace in Heliopolis. Bassole conveyed the greetings of Burkina Faso's President Blaise Compaoré to Sisi after Egypt resumed its activities in the African Union. For his part, President Sisi expressed his greetings to Compaoré and invited him to visit Egypt. He added that the meeting tackled ways of promoting bilateral relations in various fields. They also touched on the latest developments in the region and efforts exerted to combat terrorism.

On 11/9/2014: Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab met Burkina Faso Foreign Minister Djibril Bassole and discussed prospects of boosting bilateral cooperation at all levels. Bassole said that operating direct flights from Ouagadougou to Cairo would help increase trade exchange between the two countries. He expressed his country’s pleasure over the resumption of Egypt’s activities in the African Union, noting that the Egyptian role in Africa is indispensable. For his part, the Egyptian premier welcomed the suggestion of direct air route between the two capitals and assured the Burkina Faso official that his suggestion would be carefully studied.
