Tuesday، 26 January 2016 12:00 AM

The history of relations between Egypt and Canada dates back establishing diplomatic representation in 1954, where Canada has gained a prominent place in Egypt for the first time with the successful intervention in the Suez crisis in 1956. It also participates in the Peace-Keeping Forces of the United Nations, in the Sinai Peninsula.

Egyptian-Canadian relations have been positive, as the two countries are keen to strengthen these relations in many political, economic and educational fields. They maintain coordination and consultation on issues of common concern as well as issues of regional and international dimension, particularly the issues of the Middle East including the Arab-Israeli conflict, Where there is a mechanism for annual political consultation between the foreign ministries of both countries at the level of assistant ministers.

In addition, there is a program of cooperation between the foreign ministries of both countries whereby visits of diplomats are exchanged each year between Cairo and Ottawa in order to promote cooperation between the two countries.
