Sisi chairs meeting on new sports city projects

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reviewed on Saturday 20/8/2016, in the presence of Youth and Sports Minister Khaled Abdel Aziz and Armed Forces Engineering Authority Chairman Kamel el-Wazeir, current developments pertaining to the establishment of a sports city in the new administrative capital.
The President ordered going ahead with finalizing the designs of the project in order to start implementing it.
Abdel Aziz presented a report on his visit to Brazil where he attended some events of the 2016 Rio Olympics, said presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef.
The minister offered ways to make use of Brazil's experiment in establishing sports facilities. The President underlined the importance of setting up similar sports facilities, said the spokesman. He pointed out to the positive impact of such entities in encouraging sports practices.
The minister reviewed ongoing preparations for hosting and organizing world sports championships including the 2021 Handball World Men's Championship in Alexandria, Luxor and Sharm El-Sheikh.
Choosing Egypt to host this world event proves trust in the Egyptian State's sports abilities, the sports minister was quoted by the spokesman as saying.
The meeting also dealt with efforts to coordinate between the sports ministry and the Armed Forces Engineering Authority to host the 2021 championship by setting up a number of sports halls in Alexandria, Luxor and Sharm El-Sheikh, said Youssef.
Sisi also ordered an under-construction sports complex in the city to be quickly accomplished, said the spokesman.
