Monday، 24 July 2017 - 02:48 PM

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 21st, the Arab Republic of Egypt urged Israel to immediately stop the violence and intensified security against the Palestinians in Jerusalem and in the sanctuary of Al-Aqsa Mosque, expressing deep concern over repercussions of such escalation, and its outrage at the casualties and injuries of innocent Palestinian civilians due to the excessive use of force.
The Arab Republic of Egypt stressed the need for Israel to respect the sanctity of religious sites, and the right of Palestinians to practice worship in a free and secure atmosphere, with no arbitrary measures or unfair restrictions that fuel tension feelings amongst the Palestinian people and the entire Islamic Ummah.
The Foreign Ministry statement also asked the Israeli government to uphold reason in order to prevent the situation from degenerating into a dangerous quagmire, which would lead to abortion of efforts aimed to encourage the Palestinian and Israeli sides to resume negotiations so as to reach a definitive and just settlement for the Palestinian Question.
