Somali President’s visit

Somali President Mohamed Abdallah Farmago arrives in Cairo on Sunday 20/8/2017 on an official visit to Egypt. The Somali President accompanied by a high-level delegation.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has expressed Egypt's interest in activating different aspects of bilateral cooperation with Somalia mainly in the economic, commercial, and animal wealth fields. The President stressed the importance of following up the results of the visits by officials from different Egyptian ministries this year in order to push forward existing cooperation between the two countries.
President Sisi has praised historic and distinguished relations between Egypt and Somalia.
President Sisi hailed the "distinguished and historical relations between Egypt and Somalia, stressing Egypt's intention to continue to provide all support to Somalia during the next phase to build and consolidate the institutions of the state, especially the Somali National Army."
Sisi added that the two countries will continue cooperation in programs and courses organized by the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development (EAPD), and promised an increase in scholarships offered by Egypt.
The Somali president praised Egypt's historic role in supporting Somalia during various stages.
Farmajo also welcomed strengthening economic and trade relations, saying there are opportunities to develop cooperation in many sectors.
The Somali President said there are wide horizons for developing cooperation in many sectors. He said his country highly appreciates the Egyptian role in supporting Somali interests in international forums through its membership of the Security Council and the African Peace and Security Council.
