President Sisi’s visit to Cyprus

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi headed on Monday 20/11/2017 for Nicosia, Cyprus on a two-day official visit to attend the fifth trilateral summit with Cyprus and Greece. The summit will group Sisi, Anastasiades and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. The first trilateral summit was held in Cairo in November 2014, the second in Nicosia in April 2015, the third in Athens in December 2015 and the fourth in Cairo in October 2016.
Sisi is scheduled to hold tête-à-tête talks with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and senior officials on boosting bilateral ties at all levels.
Sisi will address the Cypriot parliament for the first time as he will assert the depth of relations binding the two countries and highlight the progress achieved in such relations over the past few years.
Sisi will attend the inauguration of the Egyptian-Cypriot Business Forum with the aim of activating economic and trade relations and exploring new investment opportunities between the two countries.

President Sisi arrived on a two-day official visit to Cyprus during which he will attend the fifth trilateral summit with Cyprus and Greece.

President Sisi laid a wreath on the memorial of late Cypriot president Makarios III inside the presidential palace in Nicosia.
President Sisi started talks with his Cypriot counterpart Nicos Anastasiades at the presidential palace. The talks focus on means to boost bilateral ties in the different domains and a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Cypriot President Anastasiades granted President Sisi the Order of Makarios III, which is the highest order of merit awarded to presidents in Cyprus.

President Sisi and his Cypriot counterpart Anastasiades witnessed the inking of a number of cooperation agreements. Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry signed a memorandum of understanding with the Cypriot side in the field of health. Another memorandum of understanding on security cooperation was also inked. Information Technology Minister Yasser el Qadi signed a memorandum of understanding with the Cypriot side on joint cooperation in the field of communications.

President Sisi held a joint press conference with his Cypriot counterpart. President Sisi stressed that relations binding Egypt and Cyrus are historic and based on deeply-rooted friendly ties between their leaderships and peoples throughout the history. He expressed appreciation for the constant Cypriot efforts to support Egypt.
