Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed Saturday 10/02/2018 with visiting secretary-general of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Thomas Greminger fighting terrorism and regional issues.
OSCE chief’s visit to Cairo is the first of its kind after he took office in July 2017, Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
Shoukry appreciated Greminger’s choice to visit Egypt to be the first in his tour of Mediterranean, which proved the body’s interest in boosting ties and cooperation with Cairo, Abu Zeid added.
The meeting touched on the cross-border threats, especially terrorism, extremism and the illegal immigration.
Shoukry expounded Egypt’s efforts to find solutions for the regional crises in Syria, Libya, and Yemen. He also shed light on the economic developments the country witnessed, which paved the way for attracting more foreign investments into Egypt.
Greminger paid special attention to boosting cooperation with Egypt in the domain of the illegal immigration. He also showed a special interest in the outcomes of the wide scale running military operation in Sinai against terrorists.
