FMs of Egypt, Jordan call for protection of Palestinian people against Israeli atrocities

The foreign ministers of Egypt and Jordan have condemned ongoing Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian people, stressing they need protection.
They called for support for Gazans following "regrettable developments" in the Gaza Strip, which left many Palestinians dead and wounded.
Foreign Minister Sameh Shourky said his talks with Jordan's Ayman al Safadi, who is currently visiting here, also took up issues of mutual concern.
Egypt and Jordan will continue to follow up the implementation of recent agreements of their joint committee, Shoukry told a press conference after the meeting.
He told reporters he thanked Safadi for the good care and treatment of Egyptians working in Jordan.
The meeting also took up developments in Syria, Libya and Yemen, he said, adding they also discussed preparations for the upcoming Arab summit.
Shoukry said Cairo is contacting with the Palestinian Authority and world partners with the aim to achieve the lawful rights of the Palestinian People, atop of which the establishment of their independent state on the pre-1967 borders.
The top diplomats have agreed on the need to continue joint cooperation among Arab countries for the sake of Arab stability and security.
Shoukry said they discussed challenges facing the Arab world as a result of foreign interference and terrorism.
Speaking to reporters, Safadi underlined similar views regarding Arab files.
Amman insists on boosting bilateral relations with Cairo, Safadi told the press conference.
Jordan stands by the side of Egypt in its fight against terrorism, the top diplomat stressed.
The meeting with Shoukry today took up the "unacceptable escalation" in Gaza, Safadi said, stressing "we condemn Israeli violence against innocent people who went out to practice their peaceful right to express rejection of the occupation."
Peace, security and stability are common goals of Egypt and Jordan, as well as the Arab world, he said.
The Jordanian foreign minister urged the world community to live up to its responsibility in protecting the Palestinian people against Israeli violence.
