Monday، 07 May 2018 - 03:37 PM

Minister of Immigration and Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram asserted that the "Return to Roots" initiative has been successful, noting that its positive reactions abroad were not expected.

In press statements on Monday May 7, 2018, Makram said the program, that has been outlined by the Ministry in cooperation with other state bodies, had a positive impact on the presidents of three countries involved in the initiative, namely Egypt, Greece and Cyprus.

She also the 140 Cypriot and Greek delegation members, who lived in Egypt long time ago, were very impressed by the initiative.

They paid a visit to Saint Catherine as a last stop of the week-long visit.

They came upon invitation from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi who launched the initiative during his visit to Cyprus last year.

Presidents of Greece and Cyprus partake in consecrating that initiative. The initiative seeks to organize meetings and festivals for a week under slogan “ Return to Roots”.

This initiative is the first of its kind as it urges the Greek and Cypriot communities who lived in Egypt to renew their ties with Egypt again.
