FM stresses Egypt's keenness on enhancing coop. with Burkina Faso

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has expressed Egypt's keenness on promoting cooperation with Burkina Faso in the field of fighting terrorism.

This came during a meeting held between Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Speaker of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso Bala Alassane Sakandé, currently visiting Egypt upon an invitation by Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament Ali Abdel Aal.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Shoukry welcomed Sakandé, pointing out to Egypt's interest in promoting ties with Burkina Faso in various domains including the parliamentary one, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid in press statements on Saturday 12/5/2018.

The Egyptian top diplomat expressed Egypt's appreciation for the high-level visits paid by politicians from the African country, referring to the visit of the president of Burkina Faso to Egypt in June 2017 where expanded talks with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi were held on bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.

For his part, Sakandé said that his country is seeking to boost all aspects of cooperation with Egypt and benefiting from its expertise in development programs, the spokesman reiterated.

He said the Burkina Faso guest was also keen to listen to Egypt's assessment of the latest regional developments especially in Libya, Somalia and Syria, the spokesman asserted.
