President Abdel Fattah El Sisi approved on Monday 21/5/2018 amendments to some provisions of Agriculture Law No. 53 of 1966.
Egypt's House of Representatives has earlier okayed the amendments that give the agriculture minister the right to prohibit the cultivation of certain crops in definite areas after coordination with the water resources and irrigation minister.
Under the amendments, violators could be jailed for six months at most and fined between 3,000 to 10,000 Egyptian pounds for each feddan.
They will be obliged to remove their violation at their own expense.
The presidential decree was published in the Gazette.
